Position OverviewThe Security Officer is responsible for maintaining safety and security for the members of the Carleton community and the physical property of Carleton College. In addition, security personnel are the first call for help for medical and criminal emergencies and after-hour maintenance problems.This position works 10-hour shifts on an 8-week rotating schedule that includes weekends and holidays. Shift hours do not rotate but are subject to change to meet organizational needs. Periodically, there are opportunities to change schedule hours based on service years and/or shift preference. This is a fully-benefit eligible position. Starting rate of pay $25.23-$26.63 per hour, dependent on qualifications.
Required Qualifications● EMT, EMR (First Responder), certification, or enrolled in a certification course at the time of application.● Basic computer skills required ● Driver’s license and ability to be insured by the College
Preferred QualificationsAssociate degree in related field.Security experience in a college/university setting.
Physical Requirements/DemandsRepetitive lifting of light weight objects (10-15 lbs.), frequent bending or stooping with activities. Work involves high risk with exposure to potentially dangerous situations, unusual environmental issues that require a range of safety and other precautions.

Salary and Benefits: This is an non-exempt level position. The selected finalist’s hourly rate will be based on the candidate’s qualifications, internal pay structure, and our overall compensation package.
