Carleton was founded in 1866 – by educators who understood that human knowledge is the real frontier – and has a long tradition of innovative undergraduate teaching. That long tradition has intertwined with numerous grants and initiatives that have focused on civic engagement, quantitative reasoning, student reflection, digital humanities, and developing an inclusive learning community that values our diverse experiences and ways of thinking.

The college is initiating a project called SEAMS (Seamless Administrative Services) which will modernize Carleton’s enterprise software environment with a move to the Workday platform in multiple phases over the next 3.5 years. The name reflects our goal that by replacing our current administrative software — through a process of evaluation and informed, decisive action — we will create a more seamless administrative experience for everyone in the Carleton College community: students, faculty, and staff alike.
