The Department of Music at Carleton College invites applications for a part-time, benefits-eligible position (.66 FTE) as Instructor of Percussion and Director of Carleton Symphony Band. We seek a dynamic musician, who is active in their field and has an understanding of and commitment to private teaching as well as ensemble direction in an undergraduate liberal arts setting. A Master of Music in percussion performance or conducting is required; a doctorate (DMA) is preferred. This position entails directing the Carleton Symphony Band and teaching private percussion lessons up to ten hours per week, along with weekly master classes and possible chamber music coaching. Performance and teaching ability on a variety of percussion instruments, including orchestral percussion and drum set, is required. The all-student Symphony Band rehearses two or three afternoons a week and performs three concerts per academic year.
